Pink and Orange Tulips
watercolor
11x14"
I am asked to demonstrate my pouring technique quite often. This painting is the result of one such demonstration.
I started off by pouring Aureolin and Permanent Rose onto the paper. I then blow the paint and use my spray bottle to move it around the paper. Then I pour the Aureolin and Prussian Blue at the bottom to help create leaves. After the paint dries, I "find" the tulips and the leaves and paint them in. I do this with negative painting, or painting the shapes behind and between the flowers and the leaves.

I love the spontaneity of pouring. Your tulips are lovely, Leslie.
