Pink and Orange Tulips

Pink and Orange Tulips
watercolor
11x14"

I am asked to demonstrate my pouring technique quite often. This painting is the result of one such demonstration.
I started off by pouring Aureolin and Permanent Rose onto the paper. I then blow the paint and use my spray bottle to move it around the paper. Then I pour the Aureolin and Prussian Blue at the bottom to help create leaves.  After the paint dries, I "find" the tulips and the leaves and paint them in. I do this with negative painting, or painting the shapes behind and between the flowers and the leaves.

Rooster

Rooster, 5x7"

This past weekend I was the guest artist and demonstrator at the Saanich Fair. I spent the time painting many barnyard animals. The roosters were my favorite to paint. The above painting is one of the many roosters I quickly painted.
